Transfer Options
Transfer options
In terms of coming to Texas A&M University from other collegiate level institutions, there are two major categories to look at: The Texas A&M Galveston Option, and Transferring in from another University of Community College.
- Texas A&M Galveston (TAMUG) is the only University which is directly linked to the Texas A&M College Station campus. Texas A&M Galveston offers students the option of moving to the Texas A&M College Station campus after one year through a 'Change of Curriculum'. The current criterion for this program entails students completing two full semesters (30 credit hours) at Texas A&M Galveston with a minimum of 2.5 GPA. Admissions information for TAMUG can be found at: www.tamug.edu/admrc
- Transfer Option:
Transfer admissions is completely different than freshman admissions. The decision will no longer be based on your High School credentials, but will instead be based on your collegiate coursework. Furthermore, decisions are made by the individual colleges and departments, and some are more competitive in terms of gaining entry. To apply for and be competitive for Fall 2006 admission, students will need to have completed a certain number of hours with a high GPA within a short period of time. To this end, it is encouraged that students begin accruing collegiate coursework the summer directly following their Senior Graduation. In considering Transferring in, please consider the following:
- Importance of Time: To Apply for Texas A&M as a Transfer student, you MUST have a minimum of 24 graded and transferable college level hours and a 2.5 cumulative GPA on all completed college level coursework. However, to be competitive, the number of hours completed as well as the average GPA is much higher. The dates for Fall admission are as follows:
- Please note you will have to have at least 24 completed and graded hours by the deadline to be considered.
- Competitiveness: Texas A&M has set up a system of 'Tracks' to help students choose courses that will not only be transferable, but also relate to their intended major. The different colleges and departments at Texas A&M follow different tracks. Please keep in mind that entry into the colleges differs in competitiveness.
