The question, "Why did you join the Corps?" is better rephrased as, "Why
did you stay in the Corps?" when talking with Cadet Karthik Venkatraj.
In Karthik's own words. "The first event that cemented my resolve in the Corps
was Silver Taps. In those brief moments, I knew that I was in a truly unique
organization. To expound, I was part of one of the few organizations in the
nation that has placed its values above everything else. In a world full of false
facades and transient values, the Corps stands as a stalwart harbinger of these
values. It is a privilege and honor to be part of an organization that spreads
and upholds the time honored values of loyalty, truth, and justice," shared Karthik.
Karthik is not only a dedicated cadet, but a stellar student. He was selected as the
2006 Texas A&M David L. Boren National Security Education Program Scholar. The
program sent him to Al Akhawayn University in Morocco for two months where he attended an intensive Arabic language program as well as classes on Arab culture. Through this experience as well as through others, Karthik has intensified his passion for investigation in the realm of national security. Karthik has an intermediate knowledge of Arabic and an advanced command of Spanish and Telegu. He is truly amazing!
Upon graduation, Karthik plans to go to Officer Candidate School for either the Marines or
Army to pursue a commission as a Military Intelligence Officer. Eventually, he plans
to obtain an international law degree and work for either the FBI or CIA.
