Liz and other cadets in the band All it took was one Aggie football game! Cadet Liz Vacek came to Texas A&M for the first time for the “Red, White and Blue” game after 9-11. She got to watch the Corps march in and the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band perform at half-time. The rest is history…. “I watched the opening ceremonies, I saw the Aggie Band march at half-time and I felt the energy of Kyle Field. I was in awe. I could literally feel the ‘Spirit of Aggieland!’ From that day forward, I knew A&M was the place for me—the pride, the spirit, the patriotism…the Corps!”

Liz had high expectations of the Corps. As a freshman cadet, Liz shared that… “It was hard work, but anything worth doing always is. That year was an incredible affirmation of the path I was headed on, and I truly enjoyed the ride!”

Each year in the Corps Liz excelled into several leadership positions. During the summer of her sophomore year, she attended summer field training for the Air Force. She was named “Distinguished Graduate” at her summer camp. Her success continued. During her junior year, she was named a Section Sergeant in the Aggie Band, a Platoon Sergeant in her outfit, and was training freshmen in her Air Force leadership laboratories.

Liz and other Ross Volunteers Liz has won awards, but perhaps, one of her most proud distinctions was being selected to be a Ross Volunteer. And it does not stop there…she was named to the committee for the Nichols Rising Leadership Conference and now, as a senior in the Corps, Liz is on Corps Staff. She is the Corps’ Staff Operations Officer…a job that is never done. “My job on Corps Staff is to organize the weekly activities of the Corps, and I learned early on that my job is never done. I love how there is always something needing my attention, and it has really allowed me to take ownership of everything going on around me! This year alone has brought me several new challenges, but it has also brought me countless rewards,” shared Liz.

Liz will continue to make a difference. She will commission into the United States Air Force upon graduation.
