Ordinary is not a word to describe Cadet Zach Davis. Zach is legally blind…and he is a junior in the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. He conquered the challenges of his fish year, grew into a training role/mentor as a sophomore, and now serves as an example of leadership as a junior… An example of someone who is capable of anything and everything.
Zach had visited Texas A&M and experienced several Aggie traditions before losing his sight…it was because of those experiences and memories that Zach knew he wanted to shoot for the stars…attend Texas A&M and be in the Corps. Zach did just that.
Zach attended a Texas A&M New Student Conference in the summer of 2004. He and his mother visited with the Commandant, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) John Van Alstyne…his response… Basically that if Zach was determined to tackle the Corps, he would make it happen.
Since then, Zach survived his fish year to walk Final Review. Zach's buddies in his outfit were and remain to be an integral part of Zach's life in the Corps.he constantly praises the support of his Corps buddies. Zach's buddies would tell you that Zach has made a profound impact on their lives as well.
You will see Zach shining brass just as everyone else, whipping out and marching in formation.because he wants to operate at the same level as his fellow cadets.there is no stopping him! He swells with pride when he talks of his accomplishments in the Corps -as he should.
Meet Zach Davis.he is humble, comical, motivational, dedicated and a proud member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets!
