Fish Drill Team to March in Frisco Community Parade Nov. 14
The Fish Drill Team will march in the Frisco Community Parade in Frisco, Texas on Saturday, Nov. 14. The parade starts at 11 a.m. For more information on the parade, go to http://friscoparade.com/.
The Fish Drill Team is a special unit composed entirely of freshman cadets. The team was formed when the freshmen were moved from the main campus to the Riverside Campus Annex, to deal with overcrowding on campus following World War II. Due to the isolation from the rest of the Corps and out of boredom, the freshmen organized themselves into the Fish Drill Team and made their debut performance among the jeers and laughter of their upperclassmen. By the end of the performance however, the team received a standing ovation.
The Fish Drill Team is open to any freshman in the Corps who is willing to work hard and accept the challenges of being on the team. They compete in precision drill competitions around the country and have gone on to win the national championship almost every year since they were created in 1946.
