Pre-Professional Outfit Visits Dallas Area Law and Medical Schools

For the cadets of Squadron 20, the A&M vs. Arkansas State football game was more than just an opportunity to march at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX. The outfit saw it as a chance to prepare cadets for their future aspiration as Law School and Medical School students.
Squadron 20 is the pre-professional outfit in the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University. Cadets who join the outfit aspire to graduate from Texas A&M and go on to attend top law, medical, or graduate schools. The outfit stresses to cadets the importance of attaining the highest grades in order to make them competitive for top professional schools. However, not only are the cadets learning to become excellent students- they are being trained to become the finest leaders, with the ability to lead the legal, medical, and other career fields.
The Dallas area hosts a top law and a top medical school of Texas. On the Friday before the A&M vs. Arkansas State game, law-bound Squadron 20 cadets visited the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law for an extensive program facilitated by the SMU Aggie Law Students and the Texas Aggies Bar Association. The cadets also had the opportunity to speak with Aggie lawyers from the local area, who came out to educate and inspire about the "ins and outs" of the workplace. The UT Southwestern Medical School, in turn, educated the outfit's future doctors and veterinarians.
At UT Southwestern Medical Center, the cadets got a welcome from the Associate Dean, James Wagner. Later they received a tour of the facilities, including Parker Hospital, Children's Hospital, and were even able to attend an anatomy and physiology lecture. The cadets were able to experience, firsthand, the depth of the Aggie Network; at both the Dedman School of Law and UT Southwestern Medical, they were able to meet members of the Aggie Family who are now attending these schools. The cadets left with an understanding of what it takes to get into law and medical school and the expectations of a student once attending.
Squadron 20 is providing unparalleled opportunities for pre-professional cadets. Along with valuable connection of the Aggie network, Squadron 20 is able to provide cadets with unsurpassable information and the support needed to become competitive candidates for professional schools. Combined with the learning of time management, working under pressure, and leadership skills, these cadets are well on their way to paving the path to their dreams.
