Col. Anthony "Shady" Groves '69
Assistant Commandant for Operations & Training
Col. Groves grew up in a military family. He received a degree in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M and a Master of Science in Operation Research from the Air Force Institute of Technology School of Engineering.He was commissioned through the Corps of Cadets / AFROTC program and entered the Air Force in 1969. He is a veteran of the conflicts in Viet Nam and Desert Storm with almost 400 combat missions, as well as non-flying assignments as a weapon system analyst in the Pentagon. His final Air Force assignment was as Professor of Aerospace Studies at Texas A&M.
He and his wife Janis have two children and three grandchildren. Their daughter also works at Texas A&M and their son is an T-38 instructor pilot.
