Lt. Col. Joseph “Rod" Matte ‘76

Associate Director for Recruiting and Cadet Trainer

Col. Matte graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1976 and a Masters of Science in 1977. From 1978 to 2004 Col. Matte served in the U.S. Air Force as a fighter pilot and is a veteran of Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom with over 200 combat hours. He joined the Corps staff in 2004 and serves as a Cadet Training Officer and is currently the Associate Director for Recruiting. In addition, he is the staff advisor for Corps Marathon Team, Darling Recruiting Company, Aggie Eagle Post, USAF Special Operations Team and Bataan Memorial Marathon Team.

Rod is married to Melissa '77 and they have three daughters: Wendy '02 is married to Ryan Zeitler '01, Meghan '05 is married to Luke Gregory '03 and Pam '07. They have three grandchildren destined to be Aggies.
