Maj. Glenn Burnside '73



Assistant Commandant for Admissions Support
Major Glenn Burnside graduated from Texas A&M University in 1973 with a B.A. degree in History and Business Management. He also holds a Masters Degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California.
Upon graduation from A&M, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Throughout his military career, Major Burnside served as a Combat Engineer Officer and is a combat veteran of the 1st Gulf War.
Upon his retirement from the Marine Corps, Major Burnside had the opportunity to return to Texas A&M as a member of the Commandant’s Staff in 1996. As the Assistant Commandant for Admissions Support, he serves as the Commandant’s representative for all admissions related matters and directs the major admissions, honors, and financial aid programs in support of all Corps Recruiting efforts. He also works closely with prospective students and their families interested in Texas A&M and the Corps of Cadets.
Major Burnside and his wife Olivia, also a Marine Corps veteran, have been married for over 34 years and reside on a small ranch in Brazos County just outside College Station. They have two grown children, both graduates of Texas A&M University and four grandchildren.
