Who Can Attend?

All attending scouts must be either a junior or senior in high school.  As mentioned in the previous section, all participants must hold the Eagle Scout or the Gold Award.

Active participation in scouting will be deemed sufficient if they have not yet received the honors of Eagle or Gold Awards.
Juniors may attend if they meet either one of  the following requirements

  1. Be in the top ¼ of their class, and have either a 1050 SAT score or a105 PSAT score (combination of math/critical reading sections only) or
  2. Be in the top ½ of their class, and have either a 1150 SAT score or a 115 PSAT score (combination of math/critical reading sections only)

Note: Juniors who are in the top ¼ of their class but do not meet these requirements may seek a waiver by contacting the Program Director, Joe G. Bax at joegbax@yahoo.com or 936-851-2576 and by explaining their situation that would support a waiver. The Program Director will then forward the information to the Deputy Commandant for a decision.

Four ways seniors can meet attendance requirements (must meet any one of the four):

  1. Be in the Top 10% of their class
  2. Be considered an 'Academic Admit'
-- Top quarter of class and either a minimum 1300 SAT (at least 600 on both critical reading and math components) or 30 ACT (minimum 27 in ACT English and ACT Math)
  3. Top quarter of class and either a minimum 1050 SAT (combination of math/critical reading sections only) or 23 ACT
  4. Top half of class and either a minimum 1150 SAT (combination of math/critical reading sections only) or 25 ACT

Note: Seniors who do not meet these should look into the Galveston option. If they are willing to consider the Galveston Option, then they may proceed to the registration page and register for the AEP.

Again, senior scouts must have a complete application in to the Texas A&M University Office of Admissions by the 15 January 2009 deadline in order to attend the Spring ’09 Aggie Eagle program.

These are program minimums.  These scores do not guarantee admission to TAMU. Space is limited.  Those wishing to participate in the program should apply early.
